Summary Sam Neill is a family man with a terrifying dark side in Apples Never Fall. The Jurassic Park vet is making his proper return to American television after lending his talents to the likes of Apple TV+'s Invasion and Rick and Morty. Neill stars in the Peacock mystery show as Stan, a former tennis pro who's just retired from managing a local court with his wife, Joy, where they both coached younger students, only for his life to be put in disarray when she goes missing.
Neill Was Out Of His Comfort Zone With His "Alpha Male" Character Screen Rant: This show is fantastic, your character, in particular, has so many intriguing layers from what I've seen so far. What is it like approaching this role, where you have to keep up the mystery of the character, while also still holding on to his humanity?
Sam Neill: There's a lot of stuff we couldn't fudge. I had to be coached thoroughly, and I think it's pretty convincing. For someone who's not particularly sporty, Stan's tennis looks pretty damn good. I wouldn't be betting against him if you're at the seniors at Wimbledon or something like that, because he's competitive.
I've been an admirer of Annette for many, many years, I hope she gets the Oscar for Nyad in a few days, she deserves it. Her character, and Annette herself, she's the glue that stuck all this together. All the guys playing my kids were fabulous. I think Ali Brie is one of the funniest people I've ever come across in the world, she really lightens the set. And Jake is great company, again, also hilarious. And Essie and Conor are newcomers, just fabulous.
