As Utah experiences a crush of new COVID-19 infections, Salt Lake City is urging Salt Lake County leaders to adopt a countywide mask mandate.
Dunn had discussed mounting COVID-19 infections with council members on Tuesday.
“Clearly omicron is a very powerful variant,” Stringham said, “and it’s breaking through the vaccinations.” Stringham was selected as chair during the council’s regular Tuesday meeting. She was also one of only two members who did not wear a mask.urging the public to take more serious pandemic precautions, including wearing masks indoors and outside, even for people who are vaccinated.
In a written statement, Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson, a Democrat, noted that COVID-19 infections are at an all-time high in the county. She called on elected officials, community leaders and businesses to encourage residents to get vaccinated, boosted and don masks.
