The Burnaby bowling alley sits on 4.3 acres of prime land that has been sold to a developer with plans to rezone it for condo towers.

The land was purchased in early April by Keltic Development for $94 million, according to Vancouver Market, a blog written by a Colliers International senior vice-president. The property has long been targeted for redevelopment and the property taxes are too much for a bowling business since it’s designated for high density residential by the City of Burnaby’s Brentwood Community Plan.

He said Revs is now on a multiple-year, leaseback situation with Keltic. During this time, the developer will go through a rezoning process with the City of Burnaby. There’s a fish-bearing stream that runs along the west side of the property that might need rerouting, Taylor said.Article content The Burnaby Revs is known for its expansive size compared with other bowling alleys, but Burnaby used to be home to a cluster of old-time businesses offering five-pin bowling such as Digney Lanes, the Old Orchard Bowling Centre, Lougheed Lanes, Middlegate Lanes and Hastings Bowl.
