The SABC has described an article by the Sunday Times that its board is spying on staff members as false and misleading.

The report alleges that the SABC board took the decision to use the services of the State Security Agency in its endeavors.

The newspaper further claims that the board wanted the spy agency to identify those responsible for leaking sensitive information to the media. But the public broadcaster says this isn't true. It admits that confidential company information has been leaked and says it will protect the confidentiality of its activities lawfully.

The SABC says the fact that the newspaper is in possession of confidential board minutes highlights the problem.
