says it has managed to resolve the issue of aircraft refueling. Early on Monday, ACSA released a statement stating that airlines at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Gauteng were unable to refuel their aircraft resulting in manyACSA General Regional Manager Jabulani Khambule says 54 aircraft have been delayed due to this morning’s refueling challenges.
“The reason for the incident is that we had a failure of a shaft. It’s a gearbox shaft that actuates a valve that brings fuel from the fuel farm into our apron. And that breakdown actually caused the delay in flights. “We were able with the technicians to open the valves manually now we are back online, aircraft are fueling on the air sight and we should be able to start getting aircraft out of OR Tambo,” Khambule explains.Meanwhile, Airlink apologises to customers for the inconvenience and disruption caused by the failure of the airport’s refueling system.
O.R. Tambo International Airport is Airlink’s main base and South Africa’s primary gateway for air transport. Airlink typically operates 190 flights a day to and from the airport to 45 domestic and regional destinations in Southern and Eastern Africa.
