National Correctional Services Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale led a parolee monitoring operation in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
During the operation, it emerged that parole officers were not consistent in ensuring that parolees complied with the conditions of their release, as some parolees were not found at home.Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale says, “It is important for our officials to follow the standard operating procedures to the letter. If you don’t follow standard operating procedure you will have gaps in terms of the information that you’re supposed to provide on the parolee.
