Exclusive breastfeeding remains a cornerstone of child survival and child health.
Breastfeeding remains the foundation of child health and mortality. That’s according to the Department of Health.
World Breastfeeding Awareness week, observed yearly in the first week of August, has been celebrated for 32 years. It aims to support and reduce discrimination and harassment when mothers feed their babies in public places.“Exclusive breastfeeding remains a cornerstone of child survival and child health because it provides essential, unique nutrition for a child’s optimal growth and cognitive development. Women who breastfeed have a reduced risk of developing chronic diseases such as breast and ovarian cancer, hypertension, and diabetes type 2.
