The talks are aimed at reaching a nationwide cessation of violence in Sudan.

In a statement, the US-State Department says it remains committed to working with partners to end the 15-month war between Sudan’s Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces . However, the US says the talks do not aim to address broader political issues, that the Sudanese people themselves have long demanded governance returns to civilians who must play a leading role in defining a process to restore Sudan’s democratic transition.
