Lungile Binza has been appointed as the permanent Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). Binza had been serving as the Acting COO since February 2024, following the dismissal of former COO Ian Plaatjes. Binza brings over two decades of experience in technology and executive management to the role.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation has appointed Lungile Binza as its chief operating officer on a permanent basis after having served in an acting capacity since February 2024.
Binza is a software engineer by profession. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics. “His extensive expertise and visionary approach have been instrumental in driving innovation and operational excellence within the SABC,” the broadcaster stated. In September 2024, he said he would present his case before the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration to validate his conduct.
