Nick Saban didn't name a starting quarterback for Alabama football, but he did compliment one of his freshman signal-callers.
Saban declined to give much detail about the three competing signal-callers, Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner, when asked during a post-scrimmage press conference.
While Milroe, Simpson and Buchner have been the three Saban has pointed to as competing for the job, they’re not the only quarterbacks on the roster. The head coach was asked about one of the Tide’s other options, Dylan Lonergan.“He’s done really well,” Saban said. “I think he shows great ability, great potential.
“You have experiences, you make mistakes, you mess up,” Saban said. “You say, ‘Well I’m not gonna do that again.’ And that’s how you learn and progress. So I know he’s a talented guy and certainly a guy that we want to continue to try to develop, but he’s done a nice job so far in camp.”
