South African Airways’ only Airbus A330-300 recently flew back from Accra in Ghana with passengers despite being delayed in the country after apparently taking on contaminated fuel.

On the flight to OR Tambo International Airport and just north of Gaborone in Botswana both engines started surging outside the normal parameters. The crew allegedly followed the prescribed"non-normal" procedures and requested permission from the control tower in Gaborone to descend to a lower altitude, impeccable aviation sources told News24.

Air Traffic Control at OR Tambo assisted the crew on its final approach with the engines still surging to make a straight-in landing.
