The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy recognises that the current power system is constrained. Work is under way to review the existing integrated resources plan, but the existing document is not irrelevant, says director-general Jacob Mbele.

While there is mounting pressure for the government to update its blueprint for the country's energy mix, the existing plan is not outdated nor irrelevant, says director-general of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy Jacob Mbele. The newly appointed director-general on Thursday addressed a virtual dialogue about balancing the electricity system.
