The SACP is calling on government to install solar power kits for working-class households.
JOHANNESBURG - The unpredictability of the country's national power grid coupled with Eskom's inability to keep the lights on continues to punish South Africans.SACP general secretary Solly Mapaila was briefing the media at the alliance's first plenary session.
"To resolve the energy crisis we are calling for the installation of solar power kits for working-class households," he said."The SACP calls for increased public investment in new electricity generation and energy generation capacity increase budget allocation for maintenance at Eskom is essential to address the current load-shedding programme.
"The forthcoming expenditure framework must offer a tangible solution and provide resources to address the Eskom debt to include sustainable job creation."
