On Thursday, South Africa's BRICS emissary Professor Anil Sooklal revealed that all the 54 African heads of state have been invited to the summit. The BRICS member countries are Brazil, Russia, China, India, and South Africa. Sooklal said the summit would be the largest in terms of the outreach. “We've never had such a large outreach. In 2018, we had the entire Southern Africa Development Community heads of states present as well as leaders of the global south,” he said.
“As you know, we are celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa this year. So, it's an appropriate opportunity to celebrate that milestone,” he said.
