SA’s coach Hilton Moreeng has showered praise on fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka after she bagged her 100th ODI wicket during their opening match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Bangladesh on Saturday.

Khaka ended with figures of 4/32 as SA started the tournament with a hard-fought 32-run victory over Bangladesh at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui to become the fifth South African to achieve that feat.

“She is led by our two experienced bowlers in Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp. Masabata Klaas is also growing in stature as a cricket player but I think Ayabonga is one if those consistent cricketers. “She shows professionalism around everything she does as a cricketer, she is a good student of the game, she assesses conditions and opposition very well and that gives her the edge on days when the chips are down.

Meanwhile, Cricket SA have joined in mourning the death of Australian spin legend Shane Warne who died at the age of 52 from a suspected heart attack on Friday.
