SA boxing prospects to watch
This year, a few names will make this boxing calendar memorable if their performances from last year are anything to go by.Fourie comes from a boxing family – he is following in the footsteps of his father Kobus Fourie. However, the Covid-19 outbreak put his promising career on hold. He registered notable achievements, such as dethroning then Gauteng provincial champion Khaya Busakwe, who had been a lightweight king in the province for four years.“Although we wished for more action, last year was a good year for me and my coaching team. We gunned for four or five fights but, unfortunately, that did not happen.“I am hoping to defend it three or four times this year and take over the lightweight division.
“I told him I would jog the whole year – from school to the gym – 8km every day, and I did,” explained Fourie.
