U.S. stock futures extended losses early Thursday after a higher-for-longer stance from the Federal Reserve pushed bond yields to fresh 16-year peaks.
The S&P 500 gave up initial Wednesday gains to close down 0.9% after the Federal Open Market Committee at its September policy meeting kept borrowing costs unchanged at a range of 5.25% to 5.50% but reduced the number of projected rate cuts for 2024, to just 50 basis points.
