Stocks built on a post-Fed rally, with the Dow and S&P 500 each gaining more than 1%. Oil prices climbed back above $100.
U.S. stock indexes rose Thursday as traders refocused on the Ukraine war, which has driven up energy prices and threatened to hamper the global economy’s recent growth.
The S&P 500 was up 1.2% as of the 4 p.m. ET close of trading, finishing near its high on the day after the broad-market index higher in each of the past two sessions. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.3%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.2%, or 417 points. All 11 of the S&P 500’s sectors were in the green.
