They've offered up an explanation

An airline has explained the reason why a plane was circling East Midlands Airport this morning. The aircraft could be spotted on a real-time flight tracking service at around 10.45am on Monday, July 10.

The plane, which belongs to Ryanair airline, was spotted by a resident on the Flightradar24 app - an internet-based service that shows real-time aircraft flight tracking information on a map. It was mainly circling above Castle Donington, near East Midlands Airport. And although the plane departed from the busy international airport, the location of the arrival was not specified. A spokesperson for Ryanair has confirmed that the aircraft is used by pilots at the airline for training.A statement from the airline read: "This aircraft is being used by Ryanair pilots who are undergoing flight training at East Midlands Airport." Earlier this year, a report from Derbyshire Live has explained why Ryanair planes circle over East Midlands Airport so often.

According to Derbyshire Live, a spokesperson for EMA revealed that the airport is a training hub for Ryanair pilots. And cadets must undertake several take-off and landing attempts prior to getting their wings, and as a result can often be seen looping around the airport as part of their training. Repeat landing and take-offs are considered a routine part of a pilot's training.
