Another Premier League pause this weekend as the FA Cup takes centre stage again.
We’ve already seen three of the bottom four, Everton, Bournemouth and Wolves dumped out of the tournament but Southampton are still in as are West Ham, Leicester and Leeds who all sit just a sliver above relegation.
We will still get stories that embody ‘the Magic of the Cup’ but I fear it will have to come from teams like Wrexham, who are a good neutral story for Canadians to get behind with the ownership of Ryan Reynolds. If they can get past Sheffield United, and end up in the next round and not draw one of the big boys, they’re going to be a wonderful story to follow.
They are apparently in talks with former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, who is apparently wary about the lack of quality in the Everton squad, allegedly telling friends he doesn’t think his system would work with the lack of speed in Everton’s defence. Other than Chelsea doing Chelsea things and just throwing money at their issues during this transfer window, it’s been quite quiet. Expect a frantic finish though with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle all chasing multiple targets to boost their credentials before the window closes.FA Cup, Accrington Stanley v.
