Preece is already returning to North Carolina just a day after a frightening barrel roll crash.
Preece, who needed to win yesterday's race to advance into the NASCAR playoffs, was fighting back toward the lead pack when the crash began.
He was spun from the outside lane by an errant bump draft, sliding sideways through grass and uneven pavement until his car began to blow over from air gathering beneath the car's floor. That sent it rolling backwards while sliding sideways, then an impact with the roof suddenly forced the car into a series of barrel rolls in the opposite direction. Preece was able to exit the car after all the rolling and was taken to the hospital shortly after the crash.
