Ryan Day is the fourth-highest-paid coach in college football this season behind Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney and Kirby Smart, according to USA TODAY’s coach salary database.
, which was updated Tuesday, Day is one of four college football coaches in line to make more than $10 million in total compensation for the 2023 season along with Alabama’s Nick Saban, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Georgia’s Kirby Smart.
Michigan State’s Mel Tucker was also in line to make more than $10 million this year, but he was fired for cause by MSU last week amid a sexual harassment investigation.USA TODAY’s salary database does not include coaches from private schools whose contracts are not subject to public records requests, including USC’s Lincoln Riley and Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman.
