“I’m trying to get better every week, trying to get consistent in the passing game every week,” said Surace. “We plan for the games, but we never know what they’ll give us. So we’ll take what they give us and that’s what we’ve been doing all year.” Gabe Winowich, a transfer from Detroit Country Day who will be attending Rutgers with Surace next year, continued to impress with the short time he has in a Notre Dame uniform. He ran 13 times for 147 yards, including a 52-yard score and was a terror as a defensive end, forcing a fumble and being disruptive in the backfield.
“Not playing was tough, but I loved being on the sideline helping the guys, so it’s been a great season. I’m only here for a couple months, but it’s been great and I love New Jersey. It feels like I’m back in Michigan but just with better weather.”“He made a couple unbelievable plays, he’s such a competitor,” said Winowich. “Fantastic player, athletic ability, smarts, you can just watch him. There’s not too many players like him in the country.
