Rutgers hosted St. John's in an exhibition scrimmage on Thursday.

Ace Bailey caught the ball near midcourt, took two dribbles to his left and turned toward the rim. He had a defender in front of him and a teammate streaking to the rim in transition, but there was no doubt the star Rutgers freshman was taking the shot.His fourth consecutive make put the Scarlet Knights up by 10 points against St. John’s, sending the half-filled crowd at Jersey Mike’s Arena into a mid-February frenzy.

His fellow five-star freshman Dylan Harper, who finished with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting , looked pretty good himself. The Don Bosco Prep product opened the game with a tough finish on a lay-up, hit some impressive jumpers and knocked down a couple of threes. Rutgers fell into an early hole, trailing 17-8 after missing 11 of its first 15 shots in the opening eight minutes of the contest. The Scarlet Knights then took control midway through the first half with a 22-0 run in which it dominated on both sides of the floor.
