Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived Wednesday at the White House for a meeting with President Biden that is part of his first trip outside Ukraine since Russia’s invasion of his country in February. Biden put his arm around Zelensky as he walked him into the White House. After the two moved to the Oval Office, Biden said he was “delighted” that Zelensky had made the trip. Zelensky offered “all my appreciations from my heart and from the heart of all Ukrainians.
After a meeting and joint news conference with Biden, Zelensky is scheduled to address Congress at theof House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on behalf of the bipartisan congressional leadership. In a letter to Zelensky, Pelosi said Americans are “in awe of the heroism of the Ukrainian people.” Both Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called on their colleagues to approve additional aid to Ukraine.
