It comes as satellite images reveal two destroyed IL-76 Russian cargo planes following a drone attack on Kresty air base in northern Russia

In an update from the the UK Ministry of Defence , it reveals the Russian military is using a range of measures to keep open the passage to Crimea from Russia to support its forces in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The exiled Ukrainian mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boichenko, told Reuters people from the city had recounted how there were no voter lists and no candidate lists. “It is clear that there is no trust from the people toward this process, which should be called a sham election,” he said.were destroyed and a further two were damaged in a drone attack on Kresty airbase in Pskov, northern Russia, about 400 miles from Ukraine overnight on 29 August.

A Ukrainian intelligence chief claimed that the attack on the airfield had been carried out from within Russian territory.: “We are working from the territory of Russia.” He did not specify who carried out the attack.
