Rulani: 'The match was won in Tshwane'
PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - SEPTEMBER 30: Mamelodi Sundowns Coach Rulani Mokwena during the CAF Champions League, 2nd preliminary round - leg 2 match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Bumamuru at Lucas Moripe Stadium on September 30, 2023 in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Brazilians played 0-0 against the Red Devils in Cairo on Wednesday but advanced to the final of the African richest competition after winning the first-leg match in Tshwane on Saturday. “I think Sundowns showed character and a lot of gale and perseverance, in what was, a very difficult 98 minutes against a very strong team. But I must be honest, and I think this semi-final was won in South Africa in the first leg,” said Mokwena during the post-match after the victory against Al Ahly in Cairo.
Sundowns are set to travel straight to Rabat this week to start preparing for the African Football League final against Wydad AC on Sunday.
