Rulani Mokwena spoke for the first time since leaving Mamelodi Sundowns. The 37-year-old has given more details on his shock departure.
MasandawanaAccording to reports, the former Orlando Pirates mentor left after his relationship with sporting director Flemming Berg became toxicRulani Mokwena leaving Sundowns shocked many given the coach had just signed a four-year extension last year. Speaking to Robert Marawa on“I didn’t want to leave. I have to make that clear. But I think my hand was forced,” he said.
Rulani guided Masandawana to their seventh DStv Premiership in a row last season. For his efforts, he was awarded DStv Premiership Coach of the Season for winning the league with more than 20 points and breaking several records. “It makes no sense to me. But, there are a lot of things in life that don’t make sense, but you just have to accept,” he said.
“I’m blessed with enough wisdom to comprehend some of the things like this. Sometimes in football some strange things happen. But that’s the game,” Mokwena added.
