New stamps will recognise the 'institution' created by Nottingham's Games Workshop
New stamps will recognise the 'institution' created by one of Nottingham's most successful companies. Royal Mail has announced 10 special stamps will be issued to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the internationally popular Warhammer miniatures, created by Lenton-based tabletop gaming giant Games Workshop.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Royal Mail to mark the 40th anniversary of Warhammer," Ms Smallridge said."From humble beginnings, Warhammer has grown into a British institution and a global success, with our fantasy miniatures collected by millions around the world. We hope this new stamp range will be a treat for fans, and for those who have yet to discover our rich and fantastical worlds.
The popular miniatures have also been an astonishing business success, with the company's overall revenue in the first six months of the 2022 financial year totalling £226.6m. East Midlands Chamber chief executive Scott Knowles said: “Household-name businesses like Games Workshop are a great example of the power of business for their communities.
“What’s more, it puts Nottingham’s name on the map, with Games Workshop often welcoming Warhammer fans from across the globe for special events – which of course brings other tourism benefits to the local economy. This exciting collaboration between Games Workshop and Royal Mail further illustrates the enduring appeal of Warhammer for many people and it’s great for Nottingham to be associated with the brand.
