An amazing achievement
A navy veteran was delighted to be invited to a Royal Garden Party held for members of the Not Forgotten Association.
Steve, from Holcombe Brook, said: “The Buckingham Palace Garden Party was hosted by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and I attended with my wife Maria. My grandad was a radio ham and he had previously attended a Royal Garden Party and my sister Daryl used to work in the Palace as a member of staff. He said: “I also met the Chelsea Pensioners and the Beefeaters and the RAF Band played Beat the Retreat. I didn’t realise how large the gardens are; it is like a park.”
