Derby County have appointed Liam Rosenior as interim manager following the departure of Wayne Rooney. More from kateburlaga
Rooney stepped down on Friday after talks with club administrators following relegation to League One, admitting his time in charge had been a “rollercoaster of emotions”.
Rosenior has spent the last three years on Derby’s coaching team, initially taking the role as specialist first team coach before stepping up to become Rooney's No. 2 during the 2020-21 campaign. The club's future had continued to be in doubt throughout Rooney's tenure, but local businessman David Clowes provided fresh hope last week.that Derbyshire property firm Clowes Developments was close to agreeing a deal for Pride Park, before Chris Kirchner's failed takeover.
Derby's joint administrators, Quantuma, announced on Sunday that they had formally accepted Clowes' bid to acquire the club, with the company being granted preferred bidder status.
