Wayne Rooney only left his post at MLS outfit DC United over the weekend but could be set for a swift return to management
It has been a busy 24 hours for former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney. The dust had barely settled on the statement announcing his DC United exit before reports emerged suggesting Championship club Birmingham City will be his next destination.
Against the odds Eustace steered Birmingham to safety despite well-published uncertainty around the club. The Blues finished a respectable nine points above the drop zone and have taken it up a level this season. "With this in mind, Birmingham City has today parted company with head coach, John Eustace. Eustace departs after 15 months in charge, having helped to stabilise and strengthen the club on the pitch following his appointment in July 2022."The Daily Mail is the outlet reporting that Rooney is the 'clear front-runner' to replace Eustace. Despite achieving little as a manager so far, the former Red Devil has some credit in the bank from his time managing Derby County.
“I've really enjoyed my time here. I've had a lot of great help from the owners... I just feel like it's the right time for me to go back to England, first to obviously see my family. I haven't seen them for a long time.'
