Rookie catcher not sure how many people are coming to Friday's game. 'Maybe half the stadium,' he said.
Asked how many family and friends were going to be in attendance Friday night, Naylor smiled and said, “Lots of family, lots of friends. Honestly, I think they may take up half the stadium.”“He called me earlier today,” said Bo Naylor. “He wanted to make sure I was in a good spot. That I was focusing on the right things. . .not anyhing external outside of the game.The Guardians are 20-15 when Naylor starts. He’s hitting just .203 with four homers and 15 RBI.
Naylor was promoted from Triple-A Columbus on June 6 for the second time this year. He hasn’t been the every day catcher. He hasn’t even caught four to five days a week because the Guardians have carried three catches for most the season. They currently have Naylor, Cam Gallagher, just off the concussion list, and Eric Haase with David Fry starting a rehab assignment Friday at Columbus.
“I’ve relied on them a lot,” said Naylor. “I feel we do a really good job bouncing ideas off each other. We go over the scouting reports, asking each other what we’re seeing during game. We’re using each other as resources.”
