The Rollin Coal Truck Pull is set to return to Westville at the Truck Pull Track located at the former Pioneer Coal site on Saturday, Aug. 13. ContributedThe Rollin Coal Truck Pull will return in a new fashion to at the Truck Pull Track in Westville on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Volunteers have worked to make improvements to the track and the site itself with help from local trucking companies hauling clay donated by MacGillivray Fuel to make a solid base. Anderson said previously in the ‘80s and ‘90s, there were truck and horse pull events in Westville, and they are still a popular part of exhibitions throughout the province.“There’s a whole bunch that goes into this that nobody realizes that just comes and pays admission at a gate to come in and watch the event,” Anderson said.The Truck Pull Track, located at the former Pioneer Coal site has also been upgraded with new lighting after the committee had to use portable lighting, said Anderson.
“Folks really enjoy watching these events under the lights; it adds to the experience, so it was important for us to make that investment a priority,” added Anderson.
