Rochester, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department is welcoming its newest students to the Police Academy. Sunday, 10 people graduated from RPD's Workforce Development Program in a ceremony at the Public Safety Training Center. "Honestly, I am just excited to give back to the community. It has been a long time dream of mine to be a police officer," said Ahmonz Hunter. "This is what I went to college for. I did ride alongs when I was a teenager, just overall excited for the opportunity."
The department is currently short about 80 officers and has made recruiting more people to RPD a priority.
