Maine Police have identified a person of interest in the mass shootings across the state Wednesday night that left at least 16 dead and dozens injured.

The Lewiston Maine Police Department identified 40-year-old Robert Card as a"person of interest" in the mass shootings and have said he should be considered"armed and dangerous." While police have not apprehended Card, officers located a"vehicle of interest," a 2013 white Subaru Outback, on Wednesday night in Lisbon, Maine.

A bulletin from the Maine Information and Analysis Center, which is a law enforcement database, reportedly alleged Card was committed to a mental health facility this past summer for two weeks before being released.Card further studied engineering at the University of Maine between 2001 and 2004. According to NBC News, a man named Robert Card with the same birth date as the person of interest was charged in 2001 and 2002 with speeding.
