Before Schaffer-Baker scored with just 2:58 remaining in the game, the Roughriders were in danger of being held without a touchdown in their season opener for the first time since the nightmarish 2-14 season of 1979.
By the time Fajardo registered his sixth completion on a 20-plus throw last year, the Roughriders were in the second quarter of their fifth regular-season game. Saturday’s barrage of six completions came within a span of 18 throws, the first of which was the aforementioned bomb to Evans down the left sideline.
