Kenney has promised to quickly enact a law passed by Alberta’s NDP government, but never brought into force.

VICTORIA — B.C.’s simmering pipeline feud with Alberta is poised to turn into an all-out-war no matter who wins Tuesday’s Alberta election.

“The NDP passed that legislation through the legislature a year ago as part of their fake fight, a bad act of political theatre. They never intended to use it. “During election campaigns political leaders speak candidly and sometimes hyperbolic and aggressively to their constituents, we’ll just have to see how it goes,” Horgan said Thursday. “I’ll work with whomever comes out the other end.”Although Kenney said he’d enact the turn-off-the-taps law “within an hour of being sworn in,” he indicated there’d be a pause before he’d enforce it.

“I have been working for over two years to develop relationships and alliances with the premiers of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick and other opposition leaders,” said Kenney. If Alberta Premier Rachel Notley pulls off a surprise re-election on Tuesday, the disagreements between B.C. and Alberta won’t be any easier to solve.
