Locals are being asked to take part in a survey on controversial traffic lights, with an accompanying letter claiming it 'is not the case' there is a speeding problem

Road safety campaigners have branded claims speeding isn’t an issue in Springholm as “utterly disingenuous”.

A letter to locals from Amey, which maintains the roads, acknowledges that some motorists “drive too fast or ignore the red light”. The claim angered Chris Wybrew and Dorothy King from the Springholm A75 Road Safety Campaign, who have carried out their own speed monitoring over a number of years.“Despite being fully aware of our evidence and the official data he disobligingly seeks to lead the residents’ thinking by stating, as a fact, that most drivers are at or below the speed limit and concludes that speeding is a perception but not a reality.
