The road leading to Barbieland on Daybreak's island community has been closed to visitors.
Daybreak residents transform neighborhood into Barbieland for Halloween South Jordan officials said they have had numerous conversations with residents about traffic issues in the neighborhood, but they have been limited on any interventions because the roads and parking spaces are public.
However, officials said Friday that they have now determined traffic has become a public safety issue "due to the potential inability of public safety services to reach the residents on the Island." As of Friday afternoon, they announced there will be signs indicating that road vehicle traffic onto the island must be for residents only until the public safety concern has passed.
South Jordan officials did not mention anything in their announcement about foot traffic into the neighborhood, but said "police will also be monitoring the surrounding areas around the Island to ensure parking laws are followed." They added that "violators will be ticketed and/or towed as necessary."
