Police are probing the discovery of five bodies of suspected illegal miners in Riverlea in Gauteng.
The bodies were found in Riverlea and the nearby Zamimpilo Informal Settlement this weekend.
Police were responding to a shooting in the area when the bodies with gunshot wounds were discovered.The Tactical Response Team and Public Order Policing unit have been deployed to monitor the area.Accounts from locals and videos on social media suggest the gangs were using automatic weapons.
