The Buccaneers lifted the coveted MTN8 trophy on Saturday after recording a narrow 1-0 win over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with Monnapule Saleng emerging as the hero on the day following his sensational match-winning free-kick.Pirates' triumph was the club's fourth in the MTN8 era of the competition, and 11th overall, and saw Spanish coach Jose Riveiro lift his first piece of silverware since joining the Soweto giants at the start of the season.
Riveiro had previously held the reins at Finnish top-flight side FC Turku who were among those who took to social media to congratulate the 47-year-old on his success in the cup competition.
