A committee comprising ministers has been set up to look at the impact the raging war between Ukraine and Russia will have on ordinary South Africans, MPs were told on Thursday.

“We have set up a committee of ministers to look at the impact the conflict is going to have on South Africans when it comes to fuel and food prices . All this is being given consideration," he said.

He assured MPs that “we are using all the levers at our disposal as government to cushion South Africans from the effects of the rising cost of living”. To address the rising cost of petrol, Ramaphosa said finance minister Enoch Godongwana announced no increases will be made to the general fuel levy on petrol and diesel for the 2022/23 financial year.
