Ontario’s patient ombudsman’s annual report shows a rise in the number of complaints.
Released Tuesday, it shows more than 3,300 complaints in the 2021-22 year, with most of those concentrated in the Toronto area and northern Ontario. There has been a 43 per cent increase in complaints from patients and caregivers, with those individuals saying they were treated with a lack of sensitivity and caring, especially in the emergency departments.
