Rishi Sunak will look powerless if he follows Boris Johnson’s 'Brextremist' path on immigration | PaulWaugh
Gullis had plenty of allies behind him as he made his case. He claimed his bill would allow the Government to ignore the ECHR on asylum policy . Although the UK had left the EU, the court was still a “quasi-legislative supranational institution” undermining Parliament’s sovereignty, he claimed.
And although Johnson himself didn’t turn up for the vote, he was a co-sponsor of it – as were Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees-Mogg.
