Mr Sunak said his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu 'needs to do more' to alleviate civilian suffering in the occupied territory during an offensive which has killed tens of thousands.
Rishi Sunak today backed US demands for an immediate Israel i ceasefire in Gaza lasting up to two months that would allow humanitarian aid to enter.
Asked if he agreed in a morning interview, Mr Sunak told LBC: 'Yes, we've been very aligned on this.' Mr Sunak said: 'The humanitarian suffering that people are experiencing isn't right and Prime Minister Netanyahu needs to do more to alleviate that. I've made that very clear to him.' His remarks on a ceasefire marked a shift from his previous comments, in which he has said the burden lies with Hamas to agree to a truce and hostage release deal.
