What a colossal waste of money to put 'edible flowers' in a drink when nobody actually eats them!
As the sun beat down on Lancashire last weekend, I did what many others across the region did - I headed out to spend time in the sun with friends.
It has the feel of a craft market and its stunning beer garden, complete with mini oak trees growing in pots on each table, is the perfect spot to soak in the sun. Last weekend I visited with some colleagues and I was incredibly impressed. The bar was adorned with several half-filled glasses of water topped with 'edible flowers' or mini violas. As I rolled my eyes at the thought of plucking such beautiful flowers purely for the purpose of decorating a drink one of the bar staff grabbed the glass closest to me.
As a keen gardener I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There had been nothing wrong with the flowers which had been so unceremoniously chucked in the bin.
