And while he has got back to winning ways in his last few fights, he has looked a far cry from the Lopez who took over the lightweight division in 2020.
Despite their recent declines, both men are still formidable fighters and can compete with anyone on their best days and so this fight represents a chance at redemption and to put their names back in the minds of boxing fans as pound-for-pound elite fighters in the sport."It’s a great fight, I think it’s a bit of a 50/50," Hatton continued.
"Lopez is a great fighter, but he might be showing a few miles on the clock, he’s been in the biggest fights at the highest level, so maybe Taylor is a little bit fresher. "But, it’s a 50/50 fight and that’s what we want to see, we want the biggest names in the sport all fighting each other. "We need that to keep ahead of the game with so many influencer boxing fights and Taylor vs Lopez is a class fight for the sport."
