The incompetent Trudeau government appears grotesquely unconcerned about foreign interference
Incompetent used to be a powerful word. But when we hear the head of Canada’s national security agency tell Canadians that it was only by reading the Globe and Mail that she learned of threats to MPs, incompetent is really too weak to cover the failure. A spy service that gets key information about threats to Canadian democracy only after it has been published in a newspaper is full Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau.

The people of Canada are looking on to this horribly shoddy game in despair. A government that couldn’t hand out passports and bought lawn chairs for those stuck in interminable overnight lineups now reveals itself as grotesquely unconcerned about vote integrity, going to mad lengths to cover up its lack of any real diligence, and spouting preposterous accounts of the whole affair, with cabinet ministers blaming their derelictions on deputy ministers and government agencies.
