Cleer makes great headphones and earbuds. Now the San Diego-based company has turned its attention to speakers with the launch of its Scene Bluetooth speaker which even includes a speakerphone function.

Meanwhile, on the top of the speaker are volume – and volume + controls, a multifunction play/pause button alongside a microphone button that turns the built-in mic on and off. Having a microphone in a portable speaker is quite unusual as not many offer a speakerphone function so that they can be used for conference calls, but more on that later.

This new speaker provides an exceptionally clear sound with superb definition in the treble range and tight and rhythmic bass, although it’s not quite as deep as the JBL Charge. Opinion tends to split when it comes to bass; many people like to feel the low frequencies, while others prefer to hear them. This speaker will suit people who would rather listen than feel bass notes....

Cleer’s Scene is designed to be used almost anywhere, thanks to its IPX7 waterproof rating. This means it can withstand being dropped in water up to one meter deep for up to 30 minutes. So, if the speaker accidentally gets dropped in the pool or is left out in the rain, it will still work fine. The overall design is rugged and the built-in rechargeable battery can keep the party going for up to 12 hours on one charge.

As I mentioned earlier, Cleer Scene also works well as a speakerphone because it has a built-in echo and noise-canceling microphone along with Bluetooth profiles to make it able to handle calls. These features make it perfect for making and taking phone calls or for use as a speaker on a Zoom call so everyone can hear what’s happening. For those still using FM radios or Walkmans, there’s even a 3.5mm analog input for connecting legacy devices....
